Windrider
By Segalt of Vulcan

Like the beating of distant wings, it begins
Incessant, endless, growing stronger
I grasp at reason for as long as I can
But I know, I can't last much longer

I thought I knew you, thought I knew myself
I thought we were beyond anger, fear and grief
But the illusion of discipline is left behind
In a raging gale of needs and burning desires
And only you, only you can provide relief
Save my life and wash away the fires

Just when I believe, I might tame time
The hunger descends upon me
No more waiting, ceremony, wasted time
Now I ride the burning desert wind, willingly
The wind that strips away my sanity
And I feel you, in my mind, calling me

I touch you and my fires set you ablaze
You touch me and I burn even brighter
Primitive, primal passions take hold
Molding us into a timeless force of nature
And we ride the wind alone, together
With no sense of present, past or future

Later, with passions spent
In a gentle breeze of afterglow
I try to tell you what I felt
And your eyes meet mine, and say "Yes, I know..."
