In Pursuit of Logic,
In Pursuit of Peace

"Logic, logic, logic . . . logic is the beginning of wisdom . . ." - Spock

As the seasons change
So do circumstances
And this existence provides
So few second chances
What was, has been
And directs what will be
From the choices of our past
Who among us is ever, truly free

Her name was T'Layn
And she was my mate
Touching and touched, always and never
Bonded to me, but bonded more to fate

She parted from me, taking polite leave
Such a gentle touch
Such a mortal scar
Forsaken was I, for Gol and the Kohlinahr

Her choice, I honored
Among the worthy to let her take her place
But one secret, from her, I kept
No other will I honor in her place

Travelers often comment
On the brightness of our sun
But I no longer notice
And what is, must never be undone

So, farewell Eridani
I, too, take my leave
Now a pilgrim of suns
Some solitude and peace will I achieve

And when the seasons turn
And the seventh chime rings
No solace will I find
From the insanity it brings
When next the ponn farr falls
In madness, myself to attire
To this final, fitful end
Will fate and I conspire
